Do I know

how to pick my vacation days or what? My Dad just called to tell me he heard NO carryons. What will I do if I can't knit? I'm stressed out already.

I've been reading different things online, but it appears you may be able to take items on board, as long as they're in a clear bag.

If you're flying out of or into London, though, you can't take ANYTHING on board.

Yikes.

Try to have a good trip, in spite of this.

my DH landed in london this morning... anyway, if you have stuff you want to take carryon, they're letting you put it in plastic bags in most cases, even in london. or so DH was told at heathrow this morning. call the airlines ;)

Yes, that's right - you can bring carry-ons, but everything must be in a clear plastic bag. And I also received a notice from our travel administrator saying:

"NO LIQUIDS OR GELS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED IN CARRY-ON BAGGAGE. ITEMS MUST BE IN CHECKED BAGGAGE. This includes all beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency."

Nice, huh?

That sucks. You might want to phone your aircarrier though.

Apparently you can still take some things.

Leave crazy early for your flight.

I hope your airline gives you good news about your carryon! Safe travels!

Chin up! It sounds like stuff is stressful, but for the most part people are being pretty gracious, which makes for much better traveling. I know how you feel about the knitting - I can't even sit for half an hour at the pool watching my kids without knitting in hand :0)

It is stressful. You need to ask yourself if it's worth it right now. If so, then knitting needles in your checked luggage and bring a book on board! Or maybe some travel games to play with ABC. Let me know how it goes! Thinking of you. S.N.

I completely empathize, being on the road myself at the moment.

But so far, so good. I was allowed to take needles and knitting on between Tucson and Las Vegas. And even security wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. How have your experiences been so far?

Hope you are hanging in there! Thinking of you...

Take a book, that should be safe.
